I am becoming my parents.

Hobbling around like an ooooold wo/man. Well, in my defense, yesterday, D and I wandered down into the lower Haight taking photos of art murals on walls just as we had the upper Haight the day before, then jumped on the bus to head down to the MOMA museum. We hopped off at Union Square to find one of the heart sculptures that San Francisco General Hospital has been commissioning and auctioning off for several years now to raise money.

Yeah, so a couple of dumb art buffs wandering into the heart of the downtown SF shopping district on Black Friday. Um. We did find the heart, though, then quickly left the area via the Grant/Geary gallery escape route.

Then we went to the MOMA. Some really awesome regular exhibits and visiting shows. Jasper Johns and a woman I had not heard of before, Jay Defoe, who was one of the signature artists of the Beat Generation.

Thing about art galleries, particularly art galleries with four endless floors and a rooftop garden? They are MURDER on the knees. Every time I saw a bench I plopped myself down on it to get off my feet, then stared more at the ridiculous shoes the other patrons were wearing more than the art. We spent five hours in the museum between ogling art, eating in the cafe, and shopping in the gift store.

Then we wandered over to Yerba Buena Gardens (well, D wandered, I hobbled), which manages to be zen and peaceful even when it is full of people on Black Friday eve. We had Thai food for dinner back in the 'hood.

Today's plan: Ghiradelli Square, and maybe, finally, my nephew and grandnephew, if we can track them down.
