I have made a tentative decision not to do NaNo this year. I am scrambling to finish up the next-to-last chapter of the first draft of my novel before the end of the month, and I don't see the final chapter going any faster. I think October will get eaten up by it.

I had planned to use October to plan out the second draft. My suspicion is this first draft is going to end up being expanded into three separate novels, which will require planning and plotting and Time to figure out. Not going to be ready to start the second draft by November lst.

Even if I had been, my NaNo plans this year were to do maybe 250 words a day on the second draft rather than 1,1667.

I'm kind of bummed I won't be able to harness some of the social energy of NaNo in getting the next draft kicked into gear, but kind of relieved, too. NaNo comes at the wrong time of year. Maybe I will try to blog more about the Planning and Plotting process as it is going on, and post snippets in later months when I have them.

it does come at a crap time of year. Camp nano doesn't seem to do much better (though I think that has more to do with how not interactive the site is. early spring would be better overall for this)

In terms of where I'm at in my writing projects, I simply have nothing to be writing. Anything "new" I would start would get in the way of what I really need to get done: planning the next draft of my story.

Time for a plot, and actual research, and maybe a little literary flair instead of inchohorent scribbles.

Kind of why part of me is happy to be taking a NaNo break this year....

understood though i rather like the insane. It's the work related insane swirling around it right now i'm less fond of
