Wow, that was awesome! Weather at work, people. "Haboob." That's a new one for me.

Our interesting weather often sounds like it comes from the Middle East, because our weather is similar to theirs at times.

I didn't see it come in, darn it. We went outside around 9:00 PM and it was as if we were in a giant fog bank, very little wind, but the street lights were glowing red and orange with all the dust in the air.

This baby passed me by completely. I was merely annoyed at what sounded like someone walking on my roof. Someone=a bull elk, of course.

It doesn't seem to be phasing anyone who is out and about that evening.

I think it looks worse than it was because they speeded up the time it actually took to roll in.

Yeah, you can tell by how fast the cars are moving. It's still impressive, though. And I like how the lights turn orangey even before the visible dust cloud arrives. (OTOH, I wonder if it posed any breathing hazard.)

It made the national news tonight, but...

I didn't even notice it, last night. It must have mostly fallen apart right over downtown. The roof of the baseball stadium on TV has the tell-tale layer of dust, but you won't find much over here in my neighborhood.

There is noticeably a lot of dust in the air though.

I hope it wasn't too horrible at your place.

I have yet to venture onto my roof, but the wind blew pine needles and dust into the street and under my garage door (I keep it cracked in the summer). I suspect my roof will look the same, if the sky lights are any indication.
