Way-back machine

selenak makes reference to a DW community that celebrates strong female characters, and specifically, an entry asking members to talk about "their first Awesome Female Character from childhood." Jamie Sommers is probably not my first, given the dates when the Bionic Woman aired*, but she is one of the most memorable. Probably because she had the strength of character and conviction to go with the ears, arms, and legs.

* Only three years, and the last of those on a different network. It didn't get the audience the network wanted, but it meant a lot to some of us.

I'd pick comic book Wonder Woman. For a female super hero to catch the eye of a small boy in those days, she really had to be awesome!

Mmm, never watched the Avengers in those days. Sort of a "before my time" show that wasn't in syndication, either.

No, in this case 'twas A&E, back before they went rapidly downhill. I taped a bunch of Avengers eps until they finally were issued on DVD.

Definitely Emma Peel for me. I would have been about 9-10 years old.

Emma Peel, just like CoM. My dad was a huge fan too, lol. (Those cat suits were something!)

Oh, where's my Eliza Dushku catsuit icon? ::seems to have misplaced it::

Amanda on Highlander will have to do even though this is pre-second-story-gal.
