Oh sure, push my buttons....

Major spoilers for next Dresden novel in link:

http://community.livejournal.com/dresden_files/130016.html

This had better be true, because if it isn't, I'll have kittens. If it is, I'll have Butcher's kittens.

Check the blurb from Amazon.com. It's on Wikipedia under Changes:

Long ago, Susan Rodriguez was Harry Dresden's lover--until she was attacked by his enemies, leaving her torn between her own humanity and the bloodlust of the vampiric Red Court. Susan then disappeared to South America, where she could fight both her savage gift and those who cursed her with it.

Now Arianna Ortega, Duchess of the Red Court, has discovered a secret Susan has long kept, and she plans to use it--against Harry. To prevail this time, he may have no choice but to embrace the raging fury of his own untapped dark power. Because Harry's not fighting to save the world...

He's fighting to save his child.

So yeah, I'd say it's true. And assuming that the child was conceived the last time that Harry and Susan had sex, she'd be around seven or eight.

The last time they had sex she was sort of half-vampire-ish.

Yep. I don't know if that makes conception impossible, though. I mean, we don't know that much about the Red Court. Could be Susan was human enough to conceive but that the half-vampire factor affected the baby. Then again, maybe she got pregnant before she was half-turned. We just don't know at this point.

Would that make his child some sort of halfway dhamphir or something?

Oooh, a female Blade/Connor! I'm liking that plan.

You just know she's going to have superpowers of some kind. I mean come on, a child between a wizard and a half-turned vampire? Oh yeah.

She's going to be mega cool.

You know, when she grows up and stuff.

Heh, we're already planning this kid's future. ;)

You mean the part where she comes of age, meets up with Connor Reilly and oh, then Willow, and learns all these cool skills, some of which involves doing spells and backflips at the same time?

Is this going to be season 3 of The Destroyer?

Yeah, sure, ten years from now when young Ms. Dresden is a teenager!

It's true. He posted this elsewhere a while ago, too.

It's been twittered. I believe it's the first sentence of his novel. What I'm worried about is whether the girl turns out to be Harry's real daughter, or whether it's misdirection of some sort.

Nothing I've heard makes me think that it's a misdirection. The book is called Changes, it's supposed to be one that breaks the mold of how the previous books have been. Apparently, it's the "shit hits the fan" book.

Yeah, so was the last one. I'm beginning to be just a tad skeptical of that particular marketing device.

I'd say a lot of shit hit the fan in the last book. *shrugs* I certainly don't want to argue about your opinions with you, that would be kinda stupid on my part. =) I've just really enjoyed the past few books and have some faith built up.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I adore this series, and every new book has something to offer in deepening the doo-doo Harry is in. I have faith that it will develop something jarring and yet believable, like the last book.

I just get amused by the constant hyperbole that seems to surround fandom anticipation.

Holy crap. I think Dresden would be pissed at Susan for keeping a child of his secret from him.

Unless he knew about it already and just had never thought about it "on screen" so to speak.

But I prefer the surprise. Major story kink of mine.

That would be kinda hard for me to believe though. And having it be a surprise would make for better literary drama.
