Still itchy

OK, this is me mooching for a Dreamwidth invite. I don't want to be left out.

Doesn't mean I'm going anywhere, mind.

I don't have one yet either, but I suggest going over and logging in with OpenID and validating your password. From what I can tell, they're randomly giving out invite codes to people with validated OpenID accounts.

I've already done the open ID thing with my LJ log in.

I did what the person above suggested... not sure what else to do. Have you any clues?

I was considering paying for an account. *shrug*

I might do that. I am horrible at making decisions. I guess I'll put it off until the end of the month again. I guess I'm hesitant because I'd be looking at 2 accounts: journal and writing journal.

I've not been very happy with my experience at InsaneJournal, and there are still things that make me hesitant to have all my writing on LJ. And even though I have a paid account, I am getting some really horrible load times and service issues (and the bots are annoying as you-know-what). Triple redundancy sounds kind of paranoid, but I'm thinking that's the way to go anymore.

I'm only getting a Dreamwidth account because my friends might do something interesting over there and I'll miss it. I don't want to spread my journal out, I like it firmly in one place.

I'd like one place too in some ways. I've been working for years to clean out and shut down my old Diaryland accounts, but I'm really worried since GreatestJournal died so spectacularly that any of the LJ clones will just up and die with no notice. I don't think that LJ is coming through with its promises of reliable service itself, and even paid users at IJ can't get decent customer service. (I even got abused by other users for expecting it to be run like a business. I am not happy about that at all.) If Dreamwidth proves to be run better than IJ, I'll be happy and maybe set up a mirror over there and move my writing journal.

I'd be happy to move my whole journal over there if it shows some staying power, but that's one of those long term wait-and-see things.
