Well, that was dumb.

Today is the day of the big hike. I decided it was also the day to strip the stain off the fireplace mantle. Now I am sore and hobbling and bent over and the hike hasn't even happened yet. Plus? The blotchiness is still there--places where the stain was able to soak in deep and couldn't be scraped off or sanded away. I may just have to paint this thing.

In other news, my brother sent me an invitation to join Facebook. I'm not seeing the point.

ETA: OK, it's another interwebs toy. Gotcha.

yeah probably not the wisest move

frankly about the only thing i like about Facebook is the charity apps. Otherwise it's like whatever

HOWEVER it's being a good learning experience for my students. They need to learn what isn't a smart thing to put on a public forum (such as the fools who've managed to get themselves fired over facebook). The college wanted me to use it and I do. They've friended me and occasionally forget i can SEE what they say.

I joined Facebook because that's where my nieces post what's going on in their lives. Small and insignificant things like when the graduation is and the like. And then like cornerofmadness I play with the charity apps and a couple others that friends are playing.

I've also noticed that some of the people from ATPo will post little things about what they're doing that don't always make it to LJ (some don't have LJs).

Thanks for the warning. I can only imagine who it would find for me. I think it's the case of, the more information you put about yourself, the more other people can find you?

Try soaking the stain with lemon juice, and then pouring salt on it -- lots of salt, not just a sprinkle. The salt will absorb the lemon juice, and hopefully the stain. Then just wipe it off. It will either work almost completely, or not at all, depending on the stain itself, but it won't hurt anything either.

You do this...to wood? Wood that you're going to re-stain later and put in full view?

The point of Facebook for me is mainly to play Scrabble with my online friends. So if you like scrabble, you should friend me on there and start a game with me.

Not a big scrabble person. My brother seems to do a lot of quizzes. What's your facebook name?

i'm under my real name, but i've set my security settings so high that i'm not even sure you can find me under a normal search. i'll see if i can find you and then we can throw sheep at each other or something. ;)

So, how was the hike? I'm not on Facebook, so I can't contribute to that conversation.

I joined Facebook to stay in touch with my work friends. Which is really hilarious when we're all at work and updating whatever it is we're doing. One thing that I wouldn't do, that I did do, is list where you went to school. College, high school, where ever. I listed my high school and damned if the first people to "find" me were from high school. If I wanted to stay in touch with them I would've. I figure it's because a 20 year reunion is looming upon me.

I'm still balking at the total lack of compartmentalization you could have here if you allowed it--an odd mix of local friends, internet friends, work colleages and family. Yikes. One of the first people it suggested as a friend for me was the CEO of the company I work for. Nice guy, but...not.

So no work colleagues for me. But the rest...probably.

Note to self: tune down the weirdometer.
