...and I'm still young enough to care.
I'm having a little trouble finding my Tempe cottage, so my realtor (a 60-ish/70ish gal) and my mother both say, "Try Chandler! Try Gilbert!" These are towns in the vicinity of Tempe, where I want to live, and Gilbert, where I now work.
Except...ew. Chandler is like, a *bedroom* community. As Gertrude Stein once quipped, "There's no there there." Same with Gilbert. (And let's not even mention Mesa, retirement capital of the West.) Tempe, on the other hand, is a college town. That's like a business-class ticket to cool with complementary mojo after takeoff. And Phoenix is a City (or the closest thing we have to one around these parts), so it's also cool. Especially if you live in one of its more attractive neighborhoods, like Ahwatukee, which borders Tempe.
So I'm going to hold out for Tempe, because that was the original plan all those months I was scheming about my new life.
